A exquisite miniature porcelain dish bearing the coveted Limoges France backstamp — one of the most recognized marks in fine European porcelain. Measuring approximately 3.25 inches across, this petite piece is a wonderful example of the ornate decorative style that made Limoges porcelain world-famous.
The center of the dish features a beautifully rendered Rococo-style courting scene — a seated lute player serenading an elegantly dressed lady in a lush garden setting, painted in rich blues, pinks, and greens. The scene is framed by a teal enamel band and an elaborate heavy gold gilt border adorned with delicate foliate and trefoil motifs, continuing onto the rim and outer edge.
